What are the seasonal fruits and vegetables in Miami

25 January 2026

In Miami, the subtropical climate completely changes our relationship with food seasons. Here, summer is hot and humid, and winter becomes the real harvest season. For French expatriates, understanding this calendar allows them to consume fresher, tastier food and support local Florida markets.

In winter (December to March), it’s the richest period: Florida avocados, citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruits, tangerines), strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, broccoli, and sweet potatoes. This is the best time to cook colorful and varied dishes.

In spring (March to May), you still benefit from great diversity: early mangoes, pineapples, fresh herbs, corn, carrots, green beans, eggplant, and squash. The season remains very favorable for tropical fruits.

In summer (June to September), the humidity limits the harvests, but you can still find watermelons, melons, okra, peppers, and some aromatic herbs. It is also the high season for local mangoes, a Miami must-have.

In autumn (October to November), the markets start filling up again: a gradual return of tomatoes, spinach, avocados, citrus fruits, and papayas. An ideal transition towards the winter harvests.

Eating seasonally in Miami means discovering unique tropical flavors, enjoying better nutritional quality, and adapting to Florida’s unique rhythm. A simple and delicious way to fully experience your expatriation.
